Happy New Year!

The nightmare is finally over… I hope?

I tend to bunch things up into year groupings (like wine I guess). I've had good years and bad years. 2008 was definitely not one of my best. Not to say that everything that happened was bad, but I had more setbacks, both personally and professionally. than I would care for. So I for one am quite happy to see this year drawing its final breath.

Last year started out with a stumble. I started 2008 without focus or direction and I knew it. I think for 2009 it is important to try and get things back on track. I have some ideas on how to do that and have already started pushing to my new agenda. Keeping up to date with this blog will be one thing.

Another, more superstitious, step will be to visit a Japanese shrine this new years to observe Hatsumoude. (for more details see this link) I'd like to stop by one of the larger shrines. I went to Sensouji a few years back, and that was pretty good.

So goodbye Rat! Long live the Cow!

Starting Anew

"A hard beginning maketh a good ending." – John Heywood. 1497-1580

A brand new shiny blog… Well, of sorts.

Born from the ashes of my last blog, this will be my new home online. Some things have changed and others remain the same, both for myself and my blog. The greatest change here is that I will be posting under my real name, something that I have not done in a very long time. I have several reasons for this, and will not elaborate at this time, other than to say that I hope to make this more of a forum for my thoughts, and I perhaps invest a bit more of myself this time.

I will continue to write here much as I have in the past, collecting the odd bit of net flotsam that catches my eye, composing and organizing my thoughts, and voicing my opinions and ideas of the events that inhabit my environment.

If you pass by here and your surfing is interrupted by my meaningless blathering, I apologize, but keep in mind that there has never been such a thing, so tiresome and dangerous, as the net. You have been warned.
